Measurement of magnetic separation process parameters on the basis of ultrasonic control methods

Abstract

Purpose. To develop a method of complex ultrasonic measurement of iron ore pulp flow parameters (productivity, solid phase concentration, content of the control class of solid phase particle size), which passes through the working chamber of
the magnetic separator. Research methods. The following methods were used in the work: analysis of domestic and foreign experience; methods of analytical design and computer modeling; methods of numerical modeling for synthesis and analysis of mathematical model; methods of mathematical statistics and probability theory for processing the results of experiments. Scientific novelty. To improve the method of complex ultrasonic measurement of the characteristics of the flow of iron ore pulp, which passes through the working chamber of the magnetic separator. The proposed method allows to evaluate the productivity, solid phase concentration and the content of the control class of the particle size of the solid phase. Practical significance. The proposed approach allows to obtain additional information about the parameters of the flow of iron ore pulp, which passes through the working chamber of the magnetic separator. Results. The calculation of the characteristic function of the dispersion of the ultrasonic signal that passed through the controlled volume of the pulp, based on the measurement of the initial intensity and intensity of the received signal allows to determine the content of the control class of the solid phase size of the iron ore pulp. To implement the method of complex ultrasonic measurement of the flow parameters of iron ore pulp, which passes through the working chamber of the magnetic separator, it is advisable to use a Lamb wave source operating in a wide pattern and connected in a V-shaped circuit. This allows you to create a beam of coherent waves that propagate both in the wall of the tank (working chamber of the separator) and in the measured medium (iron ore pulp). The data obtained using the proposed method of ultrasonic measurements allow to create a mathematical model of the process of magnetic separation based on the Rosin-Rammler equation
